Sacred Heart Syro-Malabar Community Vienna

Saikogasse

Rooted in the ancient Christian heritage of the St. Thomas Christians of India, the Syro-Malabar Community Vienna has been a vibrant presence in Vienna since 1982. Originally founded as the Indian Catholic Community (ICC), it has grown under the pastoral care of dedicated chaplains and now reflects its unique liturgical identity.


Over the years, the community evolved—renamed as the Malayalee Catholic Community in 2017, then as the Syro-Malabar Community in 2022, and ultimately as the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Community Vienna. In August 2023, a new independant branch, the St. Joseph Syro-Malabar Community in Essling, was established.


A new milestone was reached on Palm Sunday, 13 April 2025, with the official inauguration of the Sacred Heart Syro-Malabar Community Vienna at Pfarre Auferstehung Christi, Saikogasse. The blessing was presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Yuriy Kolasa, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Vienna. Rev. Fr. Dinto Plackal was appointed as the first Chaplain.



Guided by the motto “to believe in one heart and soul” (Acts 4:32), the community continues its mission of faith, unity, and love in Christ.

Our Services

We gather every weekend and on all holy days to celebrate the Holy Eucharist. Our services are a time for prayer, reflection, and spiritual growth, providing an opportunity to strengthen our bond with God and with each other.

Our well-appreciated and talented Kids' Choir, ranging from ages 6 to 20, fills our church with soulful hymns and melodies. Their dedication and passion bring a special touch to our worship services.

Our Ministries

Altar Servers 🙏

A large group of dedicated children and youth actively serve at the altar, assisting priests during sermons and church services. This ministry fosters discipline, devotion, and a deeper connection with our faith.
